I am at the Internet Cafe with Vern. On the way home from the Internat, we stopped and had dinner at McDonalds and Vern and I walked here. The others took a bus home and Steve said he is going to make a treat for family night after our wholesome recreational activity.
This morning we walked to a little Kiosk that sells Bleenkos (sp?). The return missionary girl got a job there and today was her first day. They were delicious. It is a huge crepe filled with different fillings. I got one with cheese (like cream cheese) and chocolate. There were fruit fillings. Vern was able to put down three. But he runs up and down the stairway everyday with weights for like an hour.
Then we did some errands, and got out to the orphanage in the afternoon. The kids were out working and cleaning the yard. They each had the responsibility to rake up a huge pile of old debris and light it on fire to burn. After this we played soccer, well us girls didn't, we took pictures and video. Then we went inside up to her room.
I had Laina type a letter to Lexi and Lauren. (I will email to you girls tomorrow) This is good for her to learn some English. She typed out words she alreay knew and others when we said them, she would try to sound them out. She did great. This must be difficult for her, not knowing the language, or a computer keyboard. She will catch on quick, but so much to learn for her. The kids learn the keyboard so early in America and the computer is such an important tool in everyday life.
For those of you adopting, you may want to look into purchasing the Rosetta Stone English version. I think it will be a great tool to learn English.
The highlight of the afternoon was to have Laina with her teacher(more the mom or cargiver of their class, not a school teacher), Maria Andreasa, and we videoed Maria Andreasa talk about Laina and tell us about her. What a treasure that will be for us and for Laina. I bet she talked for over 1/2 hour telling us everything positive about her. She has such love of Laina and all of her class. A very sweet lady. We are so grateful for her, as she has watched over and loved Laina while she has been in the Internat. For those of you yet to meet her, you are in for a real treat. They actually have 2 of these teachers. They come every other day. The other teacher is young, hopefully we will get the same opportunity with her.
It is Spring Break for them, so we haven't seen their school classes. Although, after they were doing their clean up, Maria Andreasa took the class in for a psychology lesson. Laina and Andrew did not have to attend, since we were there.
Well I just posted some pictures and it's after 10:00 p.m. here. Vern and I have a 20 minute walk home, so I'd better go.
