Today was a completely free day. No adoption waiting to be done. We walked to the store and bought a few groceries, came back, grabbed a quick lunch and Bogdan came to show us around. We did lots of walking and Bogdan pointed out sights along the way. We walked to Souvenir Street which is right next to the SDA were we had our first appointment and interview back on March 19th. Of course we posed for a picture next to the gate, but this time we had Laina with us. There is a big cathedral right next to the SDA (can't remember the name), but there were quite a few weddings happening today. There is a huge flight of stairs going up to it, it is colorful and gold onion domes. Brides and grooms were posing for pictures on the stairs and limosines were parked below waiting. There were bridesmaids and flowers (there are fresh beautiful flowers everywhere), balloons, cakes, etc. The souviner street is long, probably a mile at least on a downhill cobblestone road. People are set up with their booths of wares, from painted eggs, plates, matruska dolls, linens, jewelery, coins, paintings, clothing, etc., etc. I guess once you get downhill it then becomes an uphill cobblestone road, so we made the long walk back up.
Bogdan had to leave but we wanted to go to the War Museum. Which was right there where we were. Laina was not excited to go to a museum and if looks could kill, we would have been dead parents. It made us feel good that we know we have a typical teenager. I told her and Cort that when they are parents they will make their kids go to boring (skoochna) museums too. She said she wouldn't but I told her that is what I had said when I was her age. We went through the museum, which was interesting, but we were disappointed as this was not the War Museum we had been told not to miss. It was more a history of Ukraine Museum. We had a long walk home, with not much of a smile, but once home and our legs a little rested and a spaghetti dinner, she is giggling again. I bought Steve a nice jacket for the trip and it has zippers in the airpits, and she thinks that is hysterical. She has laughed uncontrollably for days about this.
Vladimir is dropping by anytime I guess to make sure everything is done and taken care of. We also expect Moody's to be home this evening. Tomorrow we will go to church, hopefully take Cort to see the Temple site, visit with Davis' and pack up everything for the final time. It will be nice not to live out of a suitcase and have something different to where. I really tired of the 3 pair of pants and 5 shirts I brought.
Well I guess I will go join the others as they are watching The Chronicles of Narnia.
