Announcing Vivian

So blessed to announce another grand baby to the McGinty Family. Little Vivian was born April 16, 4:39 pm, 7 lbs, 4 oz, 21 in. She is beautiful. She looks much like Maddix did. Abbie and Trevor are in heaven to add a sweet little girl to their family. (Pictures aren't in order, this first one I thought turned our pretty good, just taking with my little camera while Abbie was holding her. She had her hands in such a sweet position.)

Maddix is a happy big brother!

Good looking family!
Gammie and Gampie are pretty happy!
Headed home from the hospital.
Eisley came to visit tonight for a few minutes. Love that sweet energetic girl!

I was looking at some pictures on the computer and my DIL's blogs and my eyes swelled up in tears being so thankful for these 3 little grand-kiddies in my life. I Love them sooo much! (I stole some pics off their blogs to show on mine). And I am so excited to add another little girl next month.

And BTW, my grandkids ARE cuter than yours :-D

beYOUtiful

The last 3 years I have tried to think of a way that will inspire, motivate me and not have your typical New Years resolutions. I've shared on this blog what I have done previously (re-SOLUTIONS HOPE ) and this year I had another idea. I shared it with my family last week and decided to post it. As I have said before, I seem to think my ideas if I make it public and need to be held a little more accountable. This year is no exception and I thought the idea was good, but I already know I will have a difficult time applying it. If any of you can help me - I would really appreciate it. So below are my notes that I used and wrote so I could have a hard/concrete copy of the ideas that came to me. Beware that most of my ideas are very corny, but that is kinda how my mind works. So read below if you so desire...

In the past 2 years I’ve given the first message of the year because I try to think of a new/different way to have a new perspective on the new year and have new goals and re-solutions.

1-1-11 started out this year.

We are only ONE (1) person. We will only BE that ONE for this year and for all eternity.

today is 1-23-11 ha ha, so 123 let’s go....

I had this picture displayed:

(

define: beautiful

–adjective (in dictionary on the internet)

1. having beauty; having qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind:

2. excellent of its kind:

3. wonderful; very pleasing or satisfying.

I had this idea come to me awhile ago, a different way to spell beautiful

beYOUtiful

Have YOU ever realized that YOU are the only person that is with YOU 24/7. “This is YOUr time.”

YOU can't BE YOUrself if YOU don't know, understand, and accept YOUrself first. Try to take time to YOUrself and contemplate YOUr life and choices.

Try to think about what kind of things YOU would or wouldn't like to do, and act accordingly;

Decide what YOU must change in YOUr BEhavior to align YOUr life more closely to what YOU BElieve.

BE conscious every day of the decisions YOU make, however big or small, and how close they bring YOU to BEing the person YOU really want to BEcome.

BEing YOU will BE an eternal quest. YOU are the only ONE that can change or BE come YOU!

Sometimes it takes others to help us BEcome what we want to BE.

I couldn’t BE a grandma til I had grandkids.

Janelle needs others to practice giving IV’s so she can BEcome a nurse.

Trev can’t BE a paramedic without someone is distress.

Cort needs someone to need his services to BEcome a graphic artist.

etc....

parent - child

student - teachers

We aren’t always alone. Do YOU like YOU when YOUr with others? Do they help YOU BEcome who YOU want to BE.

We’ve heard the saying “Live Life to the FULLEST”

I dissected the word: beYOUtiful - starts with BE and ends with FUL

BE FULL

What do we want life to BE full of?

Love, success, happiness, family, gospel....

continue to dissection, the middle is - YOU t I, the t looks like a + sign so now it BEcomes:

YOU+I

who could YOU + I represent?

YOU & God, YOU & spouse, YOU & friends. Are YOUr relationships helping YOU beYOUtiful?

Only thing YOU can’t change about YOU - YOU are a child of GOD!

With God all things are possible.

This year I want to encourage YOU to BEcome who YOU want to BE. Discover YOU, find YOUrself and BE true to YOUrself.

Often we we say the word BUT and it keeps us from becoming what we want to be.

“I could...BUT...”

So every time YOU catch YOUrself saying BUT, say the letters individually - B U T =

beauty or beYOUty. So every time YOU find YOUrself saying or thinking BUT let that remind you to stop and focus on BEing YOU, living up to YOUr potential and making YOUr dreams come true!

I then gave them all some vinyl lettering of pastedGraphic_1.pdf to put on a mirror, wall, to remind them and a paper with the following quotes. (Cort designed the graphics for the vinyl, thanks bud! check him out here)

YOU BEcome what YOU want to BE

by BEing what YOU want to BEcome.

If YOU can imagine it, YOU can achieve it.

If YOU can dream it, YOU can BEcome it.”

William A. Ward

“If YOU want to BE happy, BE.” Leo Tolstoy

Life is YOUr canvas. No one can paint it but YOU. BE YOUrself.

Delight in YOUr YOUth.

(We are all YOUng - it’s all relative. We are all aging at the same pace. One day at a time.)

“BE YOUrself - everyone else is taken.”

“BE true to YOUrself.”

YOU are a child of God.

“The future BElongs to those who BElieve

in the BEauty (BEYOUty) of their dreams.” Eleanor Roosevelt

This is YOUr life. It is YOUr one time to BE YOU.

Experience every good thing.

(adapted form Maya Angelou quote: “This is my life. It is my one time to BE me. I want to experience every good thing.”)

So now is the hard part - taking my own advice and deciding what, who, how I am, to BE ME - my youngest turned 18 last week so I guess all my kids are legally adults now and they need to BE THEM and make their own decisions and be accountable for them. I definitely have hit a milestone and now is the time to learn from my past and make the future BE FULL and the making the most of the YOU + I relationships in my life.

A friend gave me this advice a few weeks ago: "Everything depends on everything reoccurring until we answer from within. The thousandth time may prove the charm."

I've decided that to beYOUtiful for me, I'm going to have to start to answer from within.

really 2011

Wow! where did the last 4 months go since my last post? And I really thought I was going to keep up somewhat. I'll add a few pictures of highlights from the last few and maybe add a comment or two and hopefully 2011 will be a better year for blogging ;-). Not necessarily in order.
Here's our family photo for the year and for a first time I will have a large (20x30) framed in the house. Abbie and Trevor gave us the large photo for Christmas and it is at the framers right now. I'm excited to get it back and display in the family room. The plan is to update it each fall. I love my family!
The girls and I went to the playground with E and M and played one afternoon in October.
One of my favorite things to do is go hiking. Here's some photo's from this fall with sisters and sis-in-laws. And Cort, Janelle and Eisley.

We try to take a photo with Steve and I each time we have all the grandkids all together. Very rarely do we get them all to cooperate because it is usually when they are tired and ready to go home.
Love this pic I got of Maddix giving little Livi and kiss.
so fun when they play together.
Laina's first day of her Junior year. I only have one left in public school and it sure feels different. I don't seem to know what's going on much. She's not involved in student government this year and most of my friends are done with kids in school so it seems so much different this year. She seems to be doing good in her studies. First term was very good.
Laina went to homecoming. It was a fun day for her til the very end of the night (well early morning). Some of her friends kind of did a not nice thing and it has dramatically changed her friendships the last few months. It's been a hard adjustment. She went from so many friends last year and so involved in school to sitting home on New Year's Eve.
Another thing I love to do is road bike. Hope to do a few more century rides in 2011.
Trevor and I volunteered and directed traffic one day during the Tour de Utah. It was a fun day together.
Steve and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary in October -Wow!
This picture makes me laugh. Lex and Lain dressed up as Steve and I for a family Halloween party. They raided our closets and even had our poses down. It was pretty funny, even one of my nieces thought it was Steve when Lex was laying on her side on the ground in Steve's usual position.

Lex and I went on a little road trip to St. George for an event with my parents. Steve was sick and at the last minute Lexi got off work and went with me. It was so much fun and a great break for us. It was one night and down and back, we stopped in Cedar and went to her friends apartment, went to lunch and stopped in a fun little shop down there. Lex and Madi were planning on being roommates together, but it didn't work out for Lexi to go this year, so it was fun to stop in and spend a couple of hours together. Had to leave before a big storm hit later in the day. Her birthday was the next day.

Lexi's 19th birthday. She's a beautiful girl, inside and out!
She loves her nieces and nephew and they love her back!
Lauren and Lex - Love these beautiful girls! They are both doing great things!
It's a GIRL! Abbie and Trevor are expecting a little girl in the middle of April.
I have volunteered for The Festival of Trees for 32 years and it has been a highlight each year. I love participating in this wonderful event. Amazing people to work with, most of my family is involved and many dear friends. This year I decorated a small tree and Steve donated a painting.
Well there's a few things. I'll try to get some of December's events added this week.

A very 'Blessed' Day

It was a nice day today. I feel very blessed! Had all the family over for dinner and Wini and Dad and Alice also joined us. Jamie's sister and kids came over after and then the highlight of the day of the day. Little Alivia Joyce was named and blessed by Steve. She is eight weeks old today and what a beautiful little baby. She is so sweet and so loved by her parents. Meag said they wanted to bless and and asked if we could do it at our house. We made a special occasion of it. There was such a sweet spirit there and I hope all could feel it. Steve did a great job and choked up at the opportunity to bless this little granddaughter.

Today we also had the opportunity to gowith Laina to the Stake as one of the Counselors in the Stake Presidency set apart Laina. She has received a calling, which will be a real neat opportunity for her. she will be a Youth Counselor for the Multi-region Special Needs Mutual. She will go every Thursday night and serve and participate with these special kids.

Then I had the opportunity to hear Steve give Lainy and Lexi a Fathers Blessing as they start school this week. Lains tomorrow and Lexi Wednesday at SLCC.

It was special to have my dad here to give the blessing on dinner and for Cort to say the opening prayer before the baby blessing and Trevor to say the closing.

I am very blessed!

blast in the past

(A partial post that I discovered never was published - til now) I'm a bad blogger.

Here's a few happenings that have happened in the past few months that are worth posting. We went on a very fun, relaxing, fun in the sun, all-inclusive trip to Cancun with my wonderful brothers and sisters. It was a trip planned to go with my parents, but due to health problems they had to cancel and could not join us. It was a wonderful to de-stress and chill and eat for a few days, the only thing that would have made it better would have been staying a couple extra days. We had a great time with my siblings and spouses.

(starting again on July 13th.)
I wonder if I can ever finish a post once I start. I guess I need to keep them shorter. I'll try to fill in some highlights from the past. There have been many but I have to admit some challenging times too, but like the title of the last post, I will try to focus on feeling blessed, not stressed.
Now I've got to try to remember the past. I am getting old you know.
Lexi finished up her Senior year which I was in total denial about. I can't believe that my baby has really grown up. Truthfully, this has been a difficult year, really the last 3 years on our relationship. We both had a challenge figuring out new family dynamics and with the change in our family it really affected her and me the most. She is an amazing sister to Lainy and they love each other so much. I am very blessed that they have each other.

Lainy took her Driver's test and now has her permit. She passed her test on the first try which is pretty impressive. She hasn't driven a ton, I've kinda put Steve in charge of that. She seems to be doing okay. The family (the dad) that she nannies for lets her drive his truck when he comes to pick her up. He's alittle more brave than I am. He let her pull in his garage, in his big truck and she bumped into the shelves. He was okay about it.
She finished up he sophomore year doing really well. She had a great experience in student government.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life

That is what I posted on Facebook as my status yesterday when arriving at the hospital to be with my daughter Meagan as she was going to have a baby. Meag and Jamie have been so excited to have this little girl and she had a good pregnancy up until the last few weeks. Then she was put on bed rest. On Friday they scheduled an induction for Sunday morning. Things were going really well until they broke her water after receiving her epidural when Livi's heart rate would drop dangerously low with each contraction. Meagan's blood pressure went low also. So they rushed her into the OR and performed a C-section and little Alivia was born at 3:52 p.m. 6 lbs 11 oz, 19 inches long. The doctor estimated in the morning she would be 8.4. Everything went well and both mom and baby are healthy. Jamie is beaming dad.

I haven't her since she has had her bath, Meag says she is cuter today than yesterday. I'll have to agree. What a sweetheart!
