His birthday is the first of 4 birthdays in only 4 1/2 weeks with the immediate family. Laina's came next on the 28th, she turned 16. She had a friend spend the night (even though it was a school night) and I dropped them off at IHop in the early hours before school for breakfast.
I really think I want to be in denial on this one. I don't view her as 16 yet since she in in 9th grade and not doing the other 16 year old stuff, ie driving, dating, etc. We will hold off on those things til High School. The driving still scares me to death. My other kids had 16 years of being a passenger in a car and observing driving. She's hasn't even had 2 years in a car yet. For a few weeks around her birthday, she was quite distant, quiet, moody. I asked her why one day and she said she gets homesick around her birthday, which has been kind of hard to figure out since we focus on her, shower her with gifts, different than her previous birthdays. Last year she was really down and it was difficult for me to understand. We had a big party for her, this year a few of her friends threw her a Surprise Party (which was so nice and good for her, she was able to get away and have fun after receiving some difficult news from Ukraine). She is doing well, good in school, lots of friends, loves her cell phone and texting (she got for Christmas), and all the things that go with teenage girls.
Steve's came next and he got himself new skis and boots, he and Trevor went up to Deer Valley to ski, I sent the camera with them to take pictures, but they forgot. I guess he had a good fall that would have been good on film. (well, memory card anyway)
Next was mine - yesterday - what more can I say, denial of being in my fiftieth year (that still leaves me in my forties for several hundred more days)
Other updates and happenings - My two oldest daughters moved into new places, Meag, now divorced, into an apartment - she's doing well and looking good and moving on. Laur moved in to a townhouse with a couple of friends after a few trial weeks in another apartment (learning experience). She's off to a good start of independence and responsibility -it's fun to watch her learn and handle all she's doing - which she is doing great! She even went out a bought herself a new little puppy - Dallas, (Lauren's a huge fan of the Cowboys), she's only 6 weeks old.
Lexi busy being a Junior in high school, social life, dance company, friends, phone, etc., always a delight (when she doesn't have a 'tude').
Cort and Janelle found a starter home to buy, they should close in a couple of weeks and the best part it's only about a mile away. They are so excited to be homeowners before their baby girl is born.

Trevor and Abbie are ecstatic (and so are we!) Ultrasound revealed "It's A Boy!" coming in July.
