hits

I can't believe how many hits we have had on the blog and noticed that it is still being hit now that we are home, so I thought I would hurry and post a few thoughts. Thanks so much for all your interest. I'm not sure who is following along as I haven't gotten comments on the blog (a couple), but thanks for your interest and support! As I skimmed through a couple of previous posts today, I noticed that I had so many typos- sorry. I am amazed that you could still figure out was I trying to say. I was always hurrying and every computer is different, so pardon all the mistakes.
We made it home on Monday night on schedule. No major airport or flight problems. Just had a hard time getting any rest on the flights home, it seemed to take forever. I had been hit with a cold, I think it was more just exhaustion. It was wonderful to see Lauren and Lexi at the airport. Abbie had brought them out. They were excited to see Cort and Laina. Cort couldn't believe how much they had changed. Cort didn't want a big 'to do' at the airport. The Church has encouraged them not to, so we had some family waiting at the house. When we got to the escalator to go claim our luggage, I looked down and noticed 3 of Cort's friends there. I just shook my head. They were holding a Welcome Home poster and as we were going down the escalator I noticed it said "Welcome Home Jenny". It made me laugh. I still smile when I think of it. What cute boys.
At home we had some family and friends (Cort's). As we drove into our street we were greeted by yellow ribbons tied on every tree lining the street and a big Welcome Home Cort and Laina yellow banner on the garage and WAHOO spray painted on the lawn and chalk drawings decorating the sidewalk and driveway. Yellow balloons and more posters in the house. Thanks Amy, Robyn, Lauren and Lexi, Diane, Gloria (and any others involved). It was great to be home, but we were exhausted after missing a night sleep, it was Tuesday morning in Ukraine. Lauren and Lexi had worked hard and had the house nice and clean for us.
We've run around trying to get caught up since. Buying a few clothing articles for Cort and Laina. Driver's License (another 2 hour wait - reminded me of Ukraine - Laina thought we were done with that.) Getting Cort a phone, Laundry. Phone calls checking into school, English lessons, a Costco run, haircuts, Cort's TB test, I'm still unpacking, etc, etc. digging out from being gone for a month, etc.

Laina went with Lexi and Steve to Mutual on Tuesday evening. They went to the food bank and sorted tomatoes. She got together with Emily today and will again tomorrow and meet some more of her friends. We all seem to be adjusting well.
Jet lag is hitting - I'm off to bed!

I have so enjoyed reading your blog. Our SDA date is June 14. We have been waiting so long for our date that reading your blog gave me a lot of hope and encouragement. I must admit that when you seemed so blessed I was somewhat jealous that things had not gone so well for us or the Voorhees (I think you know them) which our my oldest daughters inlaws. We finally received our date when you where over there. I hope all goes well for the rest of the families from Save a Child Foundation. Yours and Peckhams blog have been wonderful. Thank you for sharing and providing hope when all was feeling lost.

PS We are adopting Bogdan Hudenko. I beleave he might be one of the boys in Laina's class. He is the same age as Emily Garrett. We look forward to the day that we will have his sweet spirit in our home with us.

Steve & Jenny, Lorie sent me your blog and we have had so much fun reading it. What a neat thing for your family. It was fun for us to see a little and learn a little more about Ukraine through your guys. Our Son Conley was sorry he never had the chance to hook up with you while you were there. He saw you once from a bus but he couldn't get off. Thanks for sharing this experience.
