Firsts

Last weekend was a weekend of firsts. The first day of the last day of school in America. She survived 7th grade and will move on to 8th grade next year. Her first time at Lagoon, a big amusement park. And her first time swimming in a pool in a America. First time riding a electric scooter. It was probably a mistake to do these things the first weekend of summer, because yesterday after dinner she said, "This was the most boring day ever." Oh well. Today we started some English co-op classes with some of the other moms. They aren't super excited about Summer school, but it really is a must to give them a head start for school next year. Laina understands so much, (still a long way to go) but she is still is very hesitant to speak it. Some of the other kids seem to be speaking so much more, I guess I need to be patient and continue to encourage.

Last week was also a great week for the rest of the family. Lexi promoted from Jr. High School and will go to High School in the Fall. She made the dance company for the school, she was the only freshman from her school to make the tryouts. She is excited to participate with MDC. Lauren graduated from high school. Wahoo!! She has worked so hard. She has 3 classes at the community college this summer and in August will have also earned her Associates Degree. Only 21 other students earned the New Century Scholarship. Nathan got a job and enjoys the company and schedule. Trevor found out he made the next cut to go on ride alongs with the Fire Dept. he had applied to. They started with 128 applicants and with 3 previous stages, written, physical and interview they are down to 25. The end of July after 8 ten hour ride alongs they will invite 5-9 back to attend the academy. He's worked real hard and hope he will make it all the way. And Cort got a job too at a Bank. He starts next week.
